Rebecca was elected Mayor of Yellowknife in October 2018. Previously, she served two terms as a Yellowknife City Councillor (2012-2018). She was appointed to the NWTAC Board as a director in November 2018. Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys reading, gardening, staying active and being outdoors.

Kandis Jameson is an owner/operator of Hay River Disposals Ltd. and Jameson Holdings. After graduating from Diamond Jenness High School in Hay River, Kandis spent over 15 years in progressively senior roles in banking before partnering with her husband to purchase Hay River  Disposals. Passionate about education and literacy for many years, Kandis has held positions on both the South Slave Regional Board and the local Hay River Board of Education. Kandis has always been a strong advocate for a healthy, growing and sustainable community which led her to put her name forward to serve as Mayor. Now in her Third term,  Kandis dedicates considerable time and effort to the betterment of Hay River.

Doreen Arrowmaker holds the position of Gameti Chief, she is the first female in that position, she is also one of the highest profiled Tłı̨chǫ women in Northwest Territories. Mrs. Arrowmaker is a strong advocate for her community and for the members of all Tlicho Nation. She is also serves as a member of the Chief’s Executive Council. She is a natural leader and decision-maker; keeper of knowledge, culture and language; protector of land and water; lobbyist and cycle-breaker, and has spent over 20 years amplifying the voices of her people. She received the prestigious “Wise Women of 2020” award from Status of Women Council for making a significant contribution to the Tłı̨chǫ and North Slave regions through her leadership. She holds a Master of Global Management from the Royal Roads University and is near completing her second MBA. She is at the forefront of helping other Indigenous women reclaim their rightful place as leaders.
