
Deputy Mayor Kathy Tsetso
Kathy Tsetso is Deputy Mayor of the Village of Fort Simpson and a wife, mother and grandmother who has lived in and served the North for more than 50 years. Kathy has extensive knowledge and experience regarding Governance, Leadership and community development. She is passionate about giving back to her community and region, and loves being a grandmother and advocating for and supporting elders. Kathy is a member of the Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation (LKFN) and Deh Cho First Nation (DFN). Kathy worked with Health and Social services at the community, regional and territorial level. She was a frontline provider for Health and Social Services but spent the majority of her career in Senior Management as the CEO of the Deh Cho Health and Social Services Authority before retiring in 2013.
Kathy is currently an Advisor to the Dehcho First Nations Health and Wellness Division, President of Nogha Enterprises Ltd., Development Corporation of the LKFN, Vice Chair for the Dehcho Business Development Centre, and is past President of the Aurora College Board of Governors.
Kathy’s past service to her community includes representing the NWT on the Child Welfare League of Canada and serving on their Executive Committee, as well as serving on the Executive of the Canadian Health Care Association. Kathy was a member of the Western FASD working group representing DHSS, served on the Prime Minister’s selection committee for the NWT’s Senator, and was a Past Chair of the Dehcho First Nations Trust.
