Mayor Raymond Ruben Sr

Ray Ruben is the proud Mayor of the beautiful Arctic community of Paulatuk. Deeply committed to environmental stewardship and cultural preservation, Ray brings a wealth of experience to his role as a Director of the NWT Association of Communities. He serves as Chair of the Paulatuk Energy Working Group, leading local efforts to improve access to renewable energy through wind turbines and a community solar panel system. He also chairs the Anguniavia Niqiqyuam Marine Protected Area, which supports traditional Inuvialuit lifestyles and protects vital marine species and ecosystems. Ray sits on the Tuktut Nogait National Park Management Board, helping to safeguard the calving grounds of the Bluenose West caribou herd. He is also a Director of the Paulatuk Hunters and Trappers Committee and steward of the privately held lands surrounding the community. As an Inuvialuit member of the Environmental Impact Screening Committee, Ray helps review proposed development projects, ensuring they do not threaten traditional harvesting or cause environmental harm.
